Me & My Mom a Family Experience!

Great Weekend!

June 1-3, 2007

This was my ninth year at Camp Cavell: three in the ‘50s when I was growing up, three in the early ‘80s with two of my children, and now three with my grandchildren. This year was one of the best.  Our family (five grands from 3 to 10 years old, a daughter, a daughter-in-law, her mom and I) all had our favorite activities.   I am always surprised at how much the children love the kittens, even those who have their own cats at home. The older girls, Mom Lisa and I especially enjoyed the tree climbing; Lisa overcame her fear of heights to go up at least 25 feet. For the three and five year olds, it was their first time on a horse – a thrilling experience for them.  At the archery range we had several near bulls-eyes. The mud hike was, as usually, muddy and great fun for the older kids. The weather was perfect for playing at the beach and for Saturday night’s Gold Rush Days. The food was plentiful and good; I heard several moms comment on how wonderful it was not to be responsible for getting meals on the table.  Thank you, Jill, and your staff and volunteers for a memorable weekend. We will be back next year!
