"REEL" Fishing

 Coed 4th-12th grade

We’ll do our best to “try it all”. As our fishing kids say, “It’s about the fishing, not the catching” (but they surely DO enjoy the catching!)

We’ll start the week with our fishing kids reviewing the basics. We’ll rig rods, tie fishing knots, practice casting techniques, and time permitting, try our hand at tackle crafting.

We’ll keep busy fishing at a variety of local spots mixing it up with old favorites and some new locations.
We will primarily target warm water fish like smallmouth Bass, bluegills, perch and catfish. Hopefully, we will fit in some night fishing trying to catch “THAT” infamous and elusive five pound cat fish known to inhabit our “ole favorite Lumley Pond”.

All fishing equipment will be provided but campers are welcome to bring their own rod to be checked out by our fishing coach, Jeanne Lilienthal.

Fishing kids should bring hard sole water shoes, sunglasses, hat, sun screen, bug spray, and a disposable camera to record those great catches!

A quick note from our Fishing Instructor, Jeanne Lilienthal.

All of our Reel Fishing programs will be appropriate for campers with beginner thru intermediate skills. For those of you who participated last year, we’ll change things up enough every week to keep it interesting and fun. For those who have never participated in this program before, we stress helping each other, so beginners will do fine! Fishing skills improve the more they are shared. Join us for one week or both, we’ll have fun! So many fish, so little time… If you have questions, feel free to contact me at jmlilie@aol.com
