 We have added...
 Summer Fun Weekend activities!

Aug. 22 - 24, 2008 tell your friends!Womens Retreat Aroma therapy

Scheduled by popular demand we have expanded our Tack and Paddle Weekend to include younger kids that would like to do a bit of everything!  You can swim, kayak, mud hike, make crafts, horse back ride, and more. You just come and have fun... we plan the activities, cook the food and even do the dishes!

You can also join in on our "Tack and Paddle Weekend" which is going on at the same time!  The paddlers will be taking a kayak/canoe trip down a beautiful section of the Black River that is just 30 minutes away as well as paddling out on Lake Huron!  First timers are welcome!  You can even come just for the day!  Call for details!  Riders will be taking a lesson  in a ring and visiting a local farm for a ride in the fields.  Kids must be 10 and up to do river trip and there is a $20 additional fee!  For riders a lesson is $10, and the farm trip is $20 (must be able to control the horse at a trot for the trip).

Great Year for Summer Camp!

 It is time to say
 goodbye to all of our
 International
 Campers and Staff!

As we head into our last week here at camp we are sad to say goodbye to our summer campers and counselors!  Two of our campers, Vivian who is 10 years old (left center) and Veronica (right center) who is 8 years old, came all the way from Taiwan to stay at camp for 5 weeks!  They have taught us Tai words for things here at camp and entertained us with songs from Taiwan!  They are very excited about coming again next year!

sc kiwi charlie 1Two of our counselors are also from far away!  "Kiwi" (her fun camp name) who is from New Zealand and "Charlie" from England!  We have sure had fun with them and they tease us about our "accent" and we tease them about theirs!  They love our "ocean" that is not salty and have had a great experience working at camp!  We will miss them both!

 So cute...

 New Baby Bunnies
 come out to Meet us!

The story begins when Lisa, who's husband is "Hawkeye" our adventure program person, and her kids Alex, Heather, and Nate decided to run a booth to raise money for camp at the local flea market.  Well it was a slow day but they made enough money to buy a bunny from another booth!  They excitedly asked Jill if the bunny we had a camp already was a boy or girl so as not to make any mistake and get one of each and have things happen!  bunny_2

Well Jill checked it out and told them it was a boy so they made sure they got another boy!  Well low and behold we had a baby bunny appear!  Next time they are not relying on Jill to check out if we have boy bunnies or girl bunnies!

Learn more about the fragile beach environment!

B.J. Morrison and her granddaughter Cassidy are long time volunteers at camp.  They have taken on the task of inventorying the flowers and fauna on the beach!  In 1989 and again in the late 1990's the water levels of the great lakes rose and destroyed all the beach plants.  Before the high water there was actually a nice woods on our beach and lots of flowers.  They were all taken away by the waves when the water was high enough to reach the cliff!
BJ and Cass
B.J. and Cassidy are now watching and recording the "rebirth" of the beach environment!  We will be posting more information on the Internet as they get further along with their project!
