OUR CRAFT CABIN STORY:

Virginia Upper has been working at Camp Cavell for 17 years.  She began with us as a kitchen aid and soon became our Kitchen Supervisor. A couple of years ago she retired from the kitchen.  We gave her a gold watch and said thankyou and then turned right around and handed her a shirt with "YWCA CAMP CAVELL Craft Director" on it.

For two years she tried to work only as craft director, but seeing the craft supplies are in the kitchen, she was always pulled back in to supervise.  She finally decided the only way out of the kitchen was to build her own craft cabin!  And with the help of some friends she did!

Virginia got together with a wonderful friend of Camp Cavell's (Maryanne) and together they purchased the materials needed for the basic structure.  Now they had a pile of lumber they needed some more friends to make it into a craft cabin.

Along came a great group of guys pulled together by Dick, a friend, and owner of Moore & Carter Lumber (a local building supply company).  Dick called upon some of his high school classmates and together they built our new craft cabin.

We will place this plaque on the finished building and invite you all to the grand opening!
